Media in Zimbabwe Sensitized on the Negative Implications of Caged Chicken Farming

With kind support of Open Wing Alliance (OWA), ANAW partnered with Nurture Imvelo Trust, and Sibanye Animal Welfare and Conservancy Trust to conduct a successful media workshop in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe that saw over 25 journalists participate in the event. It was an enlightening moment as media practitioners were sensitized on the negative effects of battery cages on chicken welfare.

The media personalities promised to support the mantra of a cage-free continent by setting the agenda for a robust cage-free farming conversation in not only Zimbabwe, but also in other parts of Southern Africa.

As an outcome of the workshop, several articles were published to highlight the plight of chickens in the cages and a regional conversation ignited towards having a cage-free continent.
