Meet Joseph Guyo, the eldest of three children from a single parent family and a second year student at Miasenyi Secondary School. Joseph began school at the age of 9 and he recalls walking 14km to and from home, to the nearest local school called Jira Primary School. His mother, Mary Ngoa, is a physically challenged single parent of three who is no longer employed in the hotel industry for health reasons. She now ekes out a living doing casual jobs.
As one of the benefeciaries of the Africa Conservation Education Fund (ACEF) for the past 2 years, Joseph hopes to complete his high school education whilst actively participating in his favourite co-curricular activity, drama club. ACEF is a program by ANAW and ANAW-USA that supports the education of children living in wildlife areas through scholarships and creation of effective learning environments. As we anticipate the new school year starting January 2023, we hope to support the education of more children from communities living in or neighbouring wildlife areas. Be a part of this wonderful cause and help us sponsor Joseph’s secondary education.
